EXERCICE DE STYLES #2 (2019) - Baptiste Cazaux

EXERCICE DE STYLES #2 is part of the research that Baptiste Cazaux has been carrying out on the development of a choreographic pattern through improvisation. The creation of this work was driven by Raymond Queneau’s literary essay, whose title the artist has boldly borrowed. The book tells the same short story in 99 different ways. Together with Akané Nussbaum, Cazaux applies the same variation to a choreographic sentence improvised at the beginning of the performance.

On stage, a green background recalls the cinematic device that allows for the insertion of special effects in films, and it is indeed fiction and imagination that are called upon here. Based on a game of construction/deconstruction of movement, EXERCICE DE STYLES #2 reveals the undefinable flow that the protagonists share and that runs through them in turn: a flow of energy with unlimited evocative power.

EXERCICE DE STYLES #2 premiered on August 19th 2019 at Festival far ° (Nyon, CH).
